Busy weekends
I usually take a month off in the summer thanks to working my ass off the rest of the year. This year it’s so busy that I’m just taking some long weekends and then a week off that includes a trip to the Sunshine Coast with the best boyfriend a girl could ever ask for. This means I’ve been cramming a lot into my weekends knowing that the fall, winter and spring are going to be crazy busy (but then, in just 11 months from now, I get my six months off).
This past weekend was no exception to the jam packed weekend trend. There was a dinner at Hamburger Mary’s followed by housewarming party on Friday night; a trip out to Gold Creek with my sweetie Saturday afternoon; a viewing of Mamma Mia the movie with my bestest on Saturday night (after a quick yet highly successful trip to H&M - 70% off an amazing jacket - who could resist?); then Sunday for cleaning and crafting (excuse for staying home on a nice, sunny day - cats need time with their people, especially after a traumatic week that included the two day power outage and a trip to the vet).
I will post the crafting shortly (my man has my camera right now). I managed to finish the baby blanket I was commissioned to make (just needs a quick wash and it’s off), a baby hat for a friend of my sweetie, and I completed (start to finish in one day) my first real sewing project - a very cute purse from my new bible -The S.E.W Everything Workshop by Diana Rupp. The purse will likely be gifted this weekend as well - to a three year old who won’t notice the tiny flaws. Not quite ready for adult gifting yet.
I did get outside. I swear. I even fit in a bike ride to get groceries (okay, it was very short but that’s because I was like shaky weak from these damn pills - it still counts - 3 more days of pills and we’re back in business).
Tonight we learn to put the zipper into our skirts at sewing class - so that means I’ll probably spend my day off on Friday making another skirt. A girl needs clothes after all.
