Where are they now? - 90210
I rarely missed an episode of “Beverly Hills 90210″ in the years it was on, even if it meant we had to arrive late to Pit Night. Because we usually had some drinks so I don’t remember all the details which makes it even sadder that mean old Aaron Spelling hasn’t released them on DVD yet.
Here is my first installment of “Where are they now?” Just because I feel like it.
The cool kids
Jennie Garth (My fave)- Kelly Marlene Taylor - Jennie now stars on the WBs “What I Like about You” with adorably perky teen princess Amanda Bynes.
She is expecting yet another child with hotty hubby Peter Facinelli. She also made a few Danielle Steel movies come to life.
Jason Priestley - Brandon Walsh (episodes 1 - 247) - This Vancouver boy is looking pretty damn bloaty on “Love Monkey”. Did you know he won two Golden Globes for his work on 90210? He also made a few appearances with stunning ex-Buffy alum Eliza Dushku on “Tru Calling,” giving him cool by association points.
Brian Austin Green - David Silver - most recently seen on Buffy’s hubby’s new show, “Freddie”, which still doesn’t seem to be cancelled. Also, he was engaged to and bred with Vanessa Marcil (see Gina), giving him an icky connection to Corey Feldman.
Tiffani-Amber Thiessen - Valerie Malone (episodes 113 - 249) . Obviously Tiffani got her start playing Kelly Kapowski on “Saved by the Bell”. These days, we know she just got married as it keeps coming up in the gossip rags, and she seems to find TV series every once in a while so we don’t forget about her, although her latest pilot “Stroller Wars” was not picked up. Shame.
Vanessa Marcil - Gina Kincaid (episodes 249 - 285). Caught our attention first in the video for Prince’s “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.” Also played Brenda Barrett on “General Hospital”. Interesting taste in men - she actually married Corey Feldman, but he didn’t seem to have nice things to say about her on the “Surreal Life”. Now stars on “Las Vegas”.
Shannen Doherty - Brenda Walsh (seasons 1 - 4).
Oh, Shannen. I have to admit that while Kelly was an overall fave, I really loved Brenda most. How can you not love her? No one else got their own hate based following. And which other character would ponder?
“To be a bitch or not to be a bitch, that is the question.”
So much drama, so little work. We used to watch “Our House” as a family as it starred Marlena from Days as well. Plus she is in “Heathers”, one of my all time favourite movies. Shannen really hasn’t done any quality work since she starred in “Charmed” though. Shannen made the news for a car crash last month and sadly rarely misses getting linked to super slim ex-hubby Rick Soloman everytime the Paris sex video comes up.
Tori Spelling - Donna Marie Martin - Donna, so sweet and loyal. And then there is Tori. Is it true that she divorced her previous husband and is set to marry her new guy only because Aaron Spelling is so sick? She is a regular on Awful Plastic Surgery, as would anyone be if they had huge dents in their fake boobs.
She also has a new show debuting in April on VH1 called “noTORIous.”
Luke Perry - Dylan Michael McKay (episodes 2 - 154, 249 - 296) - If girls aren’t supposed to grow up to love the bad boys, they shouldn’t make them so cute and naughty. Luke has also appeared on “What I like about you” with Jennie. See..Jennie is the best because she cares if her friends work.
He was brilliant in the original “Buffy” movie as well.
Ian Ziering - Steve Sanders - The plot outline of his last project, “Biker Mice from Mars,” is:
“Martian Mice, who ride motorcycles, crash land on Earth and help fight against the Catatonians.”Am I missing something here? Some fans seem to think this is cool. He also married Playboy playmate Nikki (Schieler) Ziering, but the crazy kids just couldn’t make it work.
The b crowd
Ziering should really lead this crew, but we’ll let him stay up top. What a putz.
Gabrielle Carteris - Andrea Zuckerman (seasons 1 - 5, recurring otherwise). She was in Crossing Jordan once. I love that show. Jill Hennessy is so sassy.
Jamie Walters - Ray Pruit (episodes 145 - 157, recurring otherwise) - I only add him as he was engaged to Drew
and he looks kind of like my ex of the same first name. Surprisingly Jamie seems to have disappeared after his 90210 days.
Hilary Swank - Carly Reynolds (episodes 210 - 226) . Please, like I need to fill you in on this one.
Kathleen Robertson - Clare Arnold (seasons 6 - 7, recurring previously). Kathleen hasn’t done too badly. She’s no Hilary Swank, but she’s got a nice body of work behind her now.
Lindsay Price - Janet Sosna Sanders (seasons 9 - 10, recurring previously). Lindsay will soon co-star with Rebecca Romijn and Brooke Burns in “Pepper Dennis.” She had hopes of true stardom with the American version of “Coupling” but that didn’t last very long.
Daniel Cosgrove - Matt Durning (episodes 246 - 296). Still a cutie and now co-starring with Agent Cooper (aka Kyle MacLachlan) on “In Justice.” Seems a bit typecast in those lawyer roles.
Mark D. Espinoza - Jesse Vasquez (season 5, recurring previously) - I saw him playing a very minor role on a crime drama lately.
Gordon Currie - Vancouver born Currie played the Walsh’s wheelchair bound cousin Bobby in the first season. I only add him because I interviewed him once about a movie when I worked at CITR and could not remember him for the life of me so I feel badly. He went on to better things like Earth: Final Conflict.
The adults
Joe E. Tata - Nat Bussichio (episodes 145 - 281, 289, 292 - 296; recurring previously). Awh, not much work since 90210.
James Eckhouse - Jim Walsh (seasons 1 - 5, recurring otherwise). Mr Walsh is so busy.
Carol Potter - Cindy Walsh (seasons 1 - 5, recurring otherwise). Not as busy at Mr Walsh.
