Oscar night

It’s a good Oscar’s night when you go to a great party and make it home in time for the L Word with a buzz on (and still get up for boot camp in the morning). I went to the Nu Oscar Night Party with the fabulous Munro. It was a night of free tiny appys, expensive wine and a tantalizing cheese plate.

We enjoyed the Oscars and checked out the cast of Godiva’s (a show I enjoy as it reminds me of my years in the restaurant industry) except that they showed up in a Hummer limo type thing. I always forget how tiny people in TV and movies actually are until I see them. Have you heard the Russell Crowe story? Tiny, short man.

Highlights?

My Michelle pulled off a gorgeous mustard gown.

Ben Stiller lightened up the staid proceedings with performance art in a green body suit for visual effects, pretending they had a “green screen” on which his head was floating.

Personal highlight was Phillip Seymour Hoffman winning best actor for Capote, a film which I left feeling queasy as he was so amazing.

Sister Aries Reese Witherspoon won for best actress. I was rooting for Felicity Huffman but Reese is a feminist Aries chick so….

Love feisty Selma Hayek. Hated her in blue as she looks so gorgeous in other colours - like red.

And can someone tell us why Jennifer Lopez got to be a presenter?

You can get all your Oscar gossip at one of my favourite Vancouver based sites, Lainey’s Entertainment Update. I like Lainey because she also noticed Busy Phillips sitting in the front row and said WTF?!
