Catchier than “femtor”

Move over CanCon, there is a new proposal for require 30 percent female musical content on campus and community radio stations. The proposal dubbed FemCon is supported by CITR (where I used to work in the newsroom in a former life) and a few other stations, and is the brainchild of Women’s Hands and Voices, an initiative of the National College and Community Radio Association.

Cabbage rolls near the LKC!?

Transylvania Flavour 107 Carrall Street at Water

Schnitzel, cabbage rolls, sandwiches, stews (with mashed potatoes), sausages, homemade desserts and so much more.

I had the cabbage rolls (4 for $8.75) and they were the best ever. Came with tons of saurkraut. Nice owners. Very sweet. And…

They do breakfast!! Eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage…nummy.

Ch’i Restaurant and Lounge

We finally made it to Ch’i Restaurant at Nanaimo and 1st last night for dinner and drinks. We had tried before on a Monday when it first opened but it was closed so we went to that old standby the Irish Heather instead.

We sampled quite a few things off the menu. I had the oven roasted sablefish with curry coconut polenta and the coriander beef striploin. (more…)

Don’t take my egg

I was going to post on Tuesday about the delicious Cadbury Caramilk creme egg I was enjoying as I found it to be the most superior creme egg of them all. At the time I was worried the little eggs could really throw my fitness regime into a tailspin, but today on the news I hear many shipments are being recalled as they contain little pieces of plastic. Thank you, diet goddess.

I’m frustrated about health care too!

Ralph Klein apologized this morning for throwing a book at a legislative page yesterday after the page delivered the Liberal handbook on health care to him in the House. Upon receiving the handbook, he took it and threw it at poor Jennifer the page (who seems to have no last name - perhaps like Cher or Madonna), saying “I don’t need this crap.”

Today he said something along the lines of “I apologize to Jennifer, I apologize for throwing the book but I am frustrated by health care. I shouldn’t have called the document crap.” If only I could find the actual sound bite. It was truly heartfelt.
