Screw you, I’m not a cat lady

I really need to update folks on life with Lola because she is just so darn cute and it’s rare to live with a kitten (or puppy) in your life so you have to appreciate every minute. If you don’t want to read on, just don’t and stop whining.

Lola has been trying to do everything Salinger can do since day one, and has succeeded in most things since she is a girl after all. However heights without stepping stools have eluded her (except when it comes to jumping into my bike seat).

I moved a bunch of furniture into the bedroom for girls night giving her new access to the much coveted bedroom sill and dresser - where Sal often sits and gloats at her as she tries to find a way up. That built up her confidence and by Saturday morning, she was leaping up to the sill with no assistance. Much better than when I found her last week with her back legs balancing on the heater and her front claws clutching to the sill for dear life, her little body stretched too far to move without hitting the floor.

Next hurdle - the tub. Sal has a predilection for licking the shower walls when I am done, but Lola hasn’t been able to figure out how to climb things she can’t plunge her pointy, little nails into (I haven’t been able to get her to stop squirming enough to cut them regularly - apologies to my lovely vet) so she can drag herself up. In the past couple days she has figured out how to get into the bathtub, but it’s too slippery for her to get out of again so I have to rescue her.

Lola is also head over heels for veggie boy who is Sal’s co-owner even now we haven’t been dating for eons. We can’t have veggie boy play with her too often as Sal gets pissy. When he’s visiting, Lola is at her prettiest, lolling around on the scratcher rubbing up against everything she can trying to show him how cute she is and get his attention.

I don’t know how I manage to raise goofy cats, but I definitely have another one on my hands with her. She’s in her long and scrawny stage - she eats like a pig but only seems to grow in length. She has a bobble head since her neck isn’t one of the areas all the food is going to, but her ears sure seem to be well nourished and we aren’t sure she will ever grow into them. I really lucked out getting two total nutters for pets.
