Kicking some ass…soon..
Boot camp started today. Yes, you doubters, I actually went - willingly and you could say with a bit of enthusiasm! I got up at 6 am to do a 7 am fitness test that included a run. Nine of us showed up in the dark (15 minutes before sunrise) with our yoga mats under our arms, all looking like we might bolt at any second and just a bit groggy when asked any question due to lack of morning caffeine. I can’t remember my left and right before 10 am so the body measurement section was tougher than one would think.
I am pleased to say that I didn’t even come in last for the run- I came in 3rd to last! Considering how rarely I get any exercise, I was pretty happy with myself (no offense to the very nice women who came in behind me - it’s not a competition!). My arms are mad at me post push-ups though, and I expect my thighs will seize up shortly. I am sure Jessica Biel had the same problems getting ready for Blade Trinity and look how it turned out for her - okay, maybe she started off in better shape, but we all have to start somewhere.
Driving home, it started to snow and I realized that it’s February, and I am dragging myself out of bed for outdoors workouts. Even in Vancouver, this seems excessive. But the snow also reminded me of all the things my body really wants to do for me - like learn to ski and snowboard. And kick ass.
Now at work, it’s a struggle to keep my head up, but I know it’s going to get easier, and I warned my co-workers that I may be bitchy this week (bitchier, that is).
I am so glad I made a massage therapy appointment for after work. And that the clinic is near MEC so I can get some new workout gear for tomorrow.
